TOUR DESCRIPTION
Experience the beautiful province of Chiang Rai and the legendary The Golden Triangle, where Laos, Myanmar and Thailand, meet. After picking you up from your hotel in Chiang Mai, we will drive you to your first stop; the Maekhajan hot springs which are the perfect place to enjoy the day’s first cup of coffee. After a small break, we will proceed through the mountains to Chiang Rai where we will visit the amazing Wat Rong Khun, which is also known as The White Temple. The next stop will be Chiang Saen, located on the banks of the infamous Mekong River. The town of Chiang Saen was once an important city of the Lanna Kingdom. It boasts many surviving ancient structures and several Buddha images can be admired in this area. You will visit Wat Chedi Luang - which is one of the better-preserved old temples. We will then proceed to the meeting point of Myanmar, Thailand and Laos which is famously known as the Golden Triangle, where you may decide to take part in a boat trip on the Mekong River which would bring you to the island of Don Sao in Laos. After this, the tour will continue to Mae Sai. This Thai town which shares a border with Myanmar is a good place for some shopping; you will find dried foods as well as several counterfeit items such as CD/DVDs, handbags and sunglasses. From Mae Sai, you can have a glimpse of Tackilek in Myanmar, itself situated a mere ten meters across the river. For those who feel adventurous, we offer the option to cross the border for a quick glance and more shopping. On the return to Chiang Mai we can arrange to visit the Long Neck village as an option.
Note: A passport is required if you wish to enjoy the boat ride across the Mekong to Laos and/or cross into Burma. Please bring yours if you think you might be interested in these options.
