On this mini trek in the Mae Wang area you will get a great activity packed day combined with your trek. This is also a great alternative for those who prefer not to ride elephants and you will get to spend some time feeding and washing these lovely large animals in the river.
TOUR DESCRIPTION
You will be picked up from your Chiang Mai hotel and we will make our way out of the city up into the hills of the Mae Wang area. If you are taking this tour on a Saturday we will stop by at the colourful weekly Sanpatong buffalo market. Our first stop will be at the elephant camp where you will spend an hour with the elephants. You will get to feed the elephants and bath them in the river. We will then proceed to a Karen village where you can take some time to see the village before we commence the trek we will trek or around 1.5 hour from the Karen village through the rice paddies and forest to Mae Wang Waterfall. If conditions allow feel free to take a swim in the waters at the base of these falls. After lunch, it will be time to take to the river on simple bamboo rafts. be prepared as you will likely get wet as the bamboo rafts make their way downriver. At the end of the rafting, you will be picked up by the waiting transport and transferred back to Chiang Mai.
*Note: The Karen village on this tour is the Karen ethnic group and not the Karen Long Neck group

Free pick up and drop off is included to and from any Chiang Mai city hotel. As this is a privately escorted tour we can pick up and drop off at out of town resorts. There may be an extra charged levied for pick up and drop off at outlying establishments. We can notify you of any extra charges before we request any payments
Wear light clothes as trekking in this part of the world can be hot and sweaty work. Shorts, T shirt and a sun hat are ideal. Long trousers are OK as they will protect your lower legs more but will be hotter to wear. Although hiking boots aren’t a necessity at least a sturdy pair of running shoes should be worn. Some people trek with sandals but they do leave your feet open to be scratched by vegetation also flip flops (thongs) arena’t appropriate as they don't provide enough support. In the rainy season from April to October bring a rain coat. Please bring a dry change of clothes for after the rafting., you will get wet bathing the elephants and during the bamboo rafting, there is also an option to swim at the waterfall
A small rucksack/day sack, shorts and T shirt for trekking (long trousers if you prefer), Walking shoes, socks, swimming suit, small towel/sarong, insect spray, sun cream, Raincoat (rainy season), some toilet paper, One bottle of water. Some money for drinks and hill tribe crafts if you want to buy.
