Combine the famous floating market at Damnoen Saduak with a boat trip out into the Gulf of Thailand to see how the local fishermen cultivate oysters. The Train market at Mae Klong and wild monkeys in the mangroves also feature on the special tour from Bangkok.
TOUR DESCRIPTION
After collecting you from your Bangkok hotel we will drive south towards Mae Klong Train Market where you witness the market vendors goods set up across the tracks of a working railway line! Just wait and see the amazing scene unfold when the train you are riding passes through this market! After Mae Klong Train Market we will make a visit to a small palm sugar producing home industry before driving the short distance to the boat pier near Damnoen Saduak where you will board a privately chartered motorboat which will travel some of the canals and backwaters on the way to the market and you will get a glimpse of real canal side life. We will disembark the boat at the market and you will then be free to explore the market, you can wander up and down the canals flagging down boats and vendors as you please. At the floating market you will have the option of boarding a paddle poat to really get a close up view of this colourful water bourne market. Following the mornings activities at the train and floating markets we will make our way to the river where we will board a boat which will take us through a local fishing community out into the estuary to visit the mangroves swaps. The mangroves are home to a troop of macaque monkeys, many will come swimming out to the boat in the hope of being fed a banana or two! The boat will continue out into the river estuary and then out into the sea where you will be shown how the local oyster farmers cultivate their oysters. Our day will finish when we transfer you to your bangkok hotel.
Important Update - Aug 2014: Due to a train timetable change it is unlikely that you will get to see the train passing through The Mae Klong Train Market on this tour. The train has been put back to a later time and now clashes with a visit to the floating market (For now we are leaving a visit to the market in the itinerary as the market itself is still of interest)
