Escape to a more traditional pace of life with a visit to the colourful weekend floating markets at Amphawa and Tha Kha.
TOUR DESCRIPTION
An early start is a must if you want to catch the action at Mae Klong Train market and Tha Kha Floating Market the first stop of the morning will be the the Mae Klong Train Market where you witness the market vendors goods set up across the tracks of a working railway line! If the train schedule allows you will see the train pass through the market and witness the amazing sight of the vendors pulling back their market stalls just inches from the passing train! Following Mae Klong we will take a Short 30 minute drive to the less visited Tha Kha Floating Market here you will see this laid back market and take the option of boarding a paddle boat to get amongst the market action. Before lunch we will stop by the Royal Benjarong House and Museum where you can see the manufacture and hand decoration of this fine Thai ceramics. A riverside lunch will be followed by a motorboat trip along the canals and backwaters to explore the numerous canals and observe traditional Thai way of living along Amphawa's waterways. We will disembark the boat at the bustling Amphawa floating market and take a walk along the main canal to observe both the waterborne market and the bustling market and food stalls lining the main waterway through the market. The final stop of the day will be at Wat Bang Kung before transferring you to your bangkok hotel.
Important Update - Sept 2013: Due to a train timetable change it is unlikely that you will get to see the train passing through The Mae Klong Train Market on this tour. The train has been put back to a later time and now clashes with a visit to the floating market (For now we are leaving a visit to the market in the itinerary as the market itself is still of interest) If the timetable does not return to its previous times we will be moving the train from this tour description. Sorry for any disappointment.
